The Interstate Conflict & Resolution Symposium was held at Bilkent University, with four distinct sessions, starting with an opening seminar on conflict and its drivers by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Bağcı of the Middle East Technical University. Following the opening seminar, sessions that focused on particular inter-state conflicts which took place – or continue to take place – during the years 2023-24. The Russian – Ukrainian War panel was conducted with participation from Assoc. Prof. Tudor A. Onea of Bilkent University and Dr. Turgut Kerem Tuncel of the Eurasian Studies Center (AVİM). Our second case-focused panel focused on the Israel – Palestine Conflict, with speakers Assoc. Prof. Efe Tokdemir and Instructor Tuğba Bayar of Bilkent University, and Assoc. Prof. Serkan Yenal of the Turkish National Defence University. The final panel concentrated on the Second Karabagh War, where Dr. Turgut Kerem Tuncel, Assoc. Prof. Yıldız Deveci Bozkuş of Ankara University and Prof. Dr. Pınar İpek of TOBB ETÜ.
Throughout the course of these four sessions, academics with differing views on various aspects of contemporary interstate conflicts offered their insights and answered questions from our audience. We thank our speakers for their contributions and our audience for their excitement. We look forward to reconvening in the second edition of the Interstate Conflict & Resolution Symposium in 2025.
